From Our Family to Yours
Now that my kids are getting older, I finally understand why everyone says, "It goes by so fast." I can't help but think what I wouldn't give to live it all over again with the wisdom and perspective of just how little time we really have.
I’d stay a little longer and hold a little tighter. I’d worry so much less and smile so much more. I’d be a better example of chasing Jesus and spend more time leading them to the only One who can give them everything they'll ever need.
But then God reminds me that even though they're older, they're still at home. It's not too late to finish well.
So, with kids ranging in age from 10 to 19, we fell in love all over again with coming to God together. I experienced the sweetest moments of hearing them genuinely pray for each other, share their thoughts on faith, and talk about what they were discovering in God's Word. It brought tears to my eyes.
It ignited a passion in my heart for every family following Jesus to experience the same. As a former children's ministry director and a mom of six, I know how hard getting through a day raising kids can be, let alone trying to lead them to Jesus with passion and purpose.
My hope is that by sharing the simple devotional format our family used to dive into God's Word—and have a little fun doing it—you'll be encouraged to make the most of the time you have left with your kids at home. Come with us, one month at a time, as we commit to building a foundation of faith that points our families to Jesus.

Why Devotions?
My whole life, I've loved to ask, "But why?" Now, as a parent, I see how annoying that can be! But I've always genuinely wanted to know, and guess what? God never gets annoyed with my asking. He's big enough to handle every one of my questions. It's the questioning that has grown my faith, my understanding, and my belief in Him, and I want the same for my kids.
So when they ask, "Why devotions? Why is spending time with God so important?" I want to let God's Word answer. I don't want them to have a "because I said so" kind of faith. I want them to have a "taste and see that the Lord is good" kind of faith! One where they experience God's goodness for themselves.
Spending time with God is a foundation of our faith that brings the very best to our days, our weeks, and our lives. Yet I still struggle to stay consistent meeting with God every single day. With the encouragement of our families we’ll help each other rediscover a love for spending time with God through this month's 5-week devotional pack, "Why Devotions?"
